Ellie is a placement student with the University of Cumbria, with keen interests in international conservation and education. Ellie’s conservation journey started with a marine mammal rescue qualification in 2015, this qualification allowed her to take part in numerous rescues and ignited her passion for marine wildlife.
While focussing on marine conservation, Ellie has taken part in research trips to study both Elasmobranchs (Sharks, Rays and Skates) in The Gambia and marine mammals (whales, dolphins and porpoises) in British Columbia, Canada.
While in Canada she discovered a passion for Resident Killer Whales and is hoping to research them as she continues her career while also sharing her passion with others.
Along with marine wildlife, her other passion is conservation education and Ellie aims to introduce the public to the incredible world on their doorsteps. Ellie has a keen focus on activities for children and families.
